One of the best ways to educate your self about a home’s condition, habitability and safety is to hire a professional OAHI inspector. The OAHI inspector will go through the property and perform a comprehensive visual inspection to assess the condition of the house and its systems. Inspections are intended to provide the client with a better understanding of property conditions, as observed at the time of the inspection.

It is highly recommended that the client plan to attend the inspection. An inspection may typically require about 2 to 4 hours depending on the size and age of the building. The inspector should provide the client with a written report of the property condition at the end of the inspection. The report should highlight any significant deficiencies found as a result of the inspection. It is the inspector’s job to ensure the client understands the findings so the client can act accordingly.

You can be assured when you retain a member of the OAHI to inspect your home, you are hiring a professional with proven ability, experience and impartiality.

Your home inspection should be performed in daylight hours only so the quality of the inspection can be maintained.

Items typically included in the inspection are:

  • Roofing, chimney and flashing
  • Exterior
  • Structure
  • Electrical
  • Heating
  • Cooling/Heat Pumps
  • Insulation and Ventilation
  • Plumbing
  • Interior
